Our Technicians Are ASE Certified. Learn What That Means For You.
Auto repair shops which carry the ASE Blue Seal employ highly trained, certified automotive technicians. The National Institution for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a non-profit organization which provides training and testing designed to improve the overall quality of auto repair shops and mechanics throughout the country.
To qualify for certification, a mechanic or automotive service technician needs to have completed at least two years of training on the job in a complete automotive service center, or a two-year automotive repair degree and one year working in an auto service center.
The certification exams require a deep understanding of automotive theory. Only the most knowledgeable and experienced mechanics pass, with a test failure rate of 1 in 3. The tests are also designed to build on the mechanic's knowledge in a logical order. Lower level certifications must be passed before progressing on to more difficult or specialized certifications.
ASE auto shops tend to be highly selective during the technician hiring process. They also have a strong focus on continuing education which helps their technicians and service writers remain up to date on current automotive technological developments. This ongoing training ensures that their mechanics will be prepared for their next exam, as ASE certifications must be re-earned after 5 years.
